Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a free consultation visit with a dog?
Yes! We’d love to bring one of our certified therapy dogs to your workplace for a complimentary visit. During this time, we’ll learn about your needs and share how Golden Pet Therapy can best support your team.
Do you require a contract?
No, a contract is not required. However, having one in place helps ensure consistent scheduling and guarantees availability for your pet therapy sessions.
Are the dogs good with kids?
Absolutely! All of our dogs are evaluated for temperament and are great with children. That said, every dog has a unique personality and works best in certain environments—we carefully select the right fit for each visit.
What organization are the dogs certified through?
Golden Pet Therapy is a proud member of the AAAIP (Association for Animal-Assisted Intervention Professionals). Each dog is evaluated by a certified dog trainer, and upon passing, is eligible for professional liability insurance through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas.
Are the handlers dog trainers?
No, our handlers are not dog trainers. We partner with K9 Konnection, a professional dog training organization, to ensure our dogs are well-prepared for therapy work.
How often are the dogs groomed?
Every 6 weeks. Routine grooming ensures our dogs are clean, comfortable, and looking their best for every visit.
Do the dogs take preventative medications?
Yes! All dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and receive monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives to keep them healthy and safe.
Why do you require participants to use hand sanitizer before petting the dogs?
Clean hands help protect both you and our dogs. Using hand sanitizer helps prevent the spread of germs and ensures a safe, healthy interaction for everyone.
